The Parish Partners
Committee of Trinity Episcopal Church feels we should have some sort
of a connection with some other parish if for no other reason than
to prove that all people are alike in God’s eyes. We are searching
the globe for a partner.
What the Committee is
looking for is some other Anglican church with which to share
Trinity. We are currently looking for a country where English is
spoken, has a substantial number of Anglicans with Internet service
for purposes of emailing, and where airfare is around $1,000 or less
in the event of travel. So far, our search has been narrowed to
ten different countries, or parts of countries, out of a possible
266.
Our goal is to (1) Learn about other people’s religious traditions.
(2) Learn about other people’s culture and geography. (3) Learn that
all Christians are alike regardless of their cultural or ethnic
background.
We intend to achieve
this (1) Through regular mail or emails with children and adults
(e-pals). (2) Exchange of printed materials and photos. (3) Possible
visits. (4) We could possibly provide technical and financial
assistance if needed and/or wanted. This one is the least of our
concerns.
Our next step is to continue
gathering more information about the ten countries that are still in
the running. After that, the committee will rank the countries in
order of preference and then contact each one in order until we find
one that would like to be our Parish Partner. This whole process
will take quite a few weeks. |
